leedg
Hi all, very almost posted a question on here last night to ask what time of year Silkies start laying, because one of our girls has been 'squatting' for a couple of weeks now. I got home earlier from walking two of our dogs, and their was an almighty racket coming from our WIR. I went down their to see what was up, expecting it to be our legbar (Deepfried, I didnt name her ) as shes very vocal, but it was actually one of our silkies (Cajun). I went into the run, and our black rock hybrid head hen (Colonel Cluck) was taking up the main nest-box. Just out of curiosity I checked one of the old redundant nest boxes and Cajun had layed in there! very happy. Its so small compared to hybrid eggs.. I had been keeping the 2 silkies, 1 araucana and 1 Legbar (Cajun, Barbeque, Breaded and Deepfried) in a sectioned off part of the run and after introducing them slowly over a month to our hybrids (Colonel Cluck, Itchy, Scratchy and KFC) theyve all been living together for a couple of weeks now, with no major problems, touch wood! Cant wait for the others to start laying
