First Duck egg

Recommended Posts

HIya

Im new to keeping ducks and think we have just had our first egg or one of our chickens has just laid an huge egg

We got the 3 Khaki Campbell ducks at 6 weeks on 20th June this year so they are now just short of 17 weeks. When I went into the coop this morning there was a huge egg in one of the nest boxes.

It weighs 5oz and Ive attached a picture.

Is this normal for a Khaki Cambells first egg?

I was expecting their eggs to be white, so do we have a cross or is this the colour of Khaki Cambell eggs?

Much Confused!!

Our first Duck egg! we think!

Hello all again, need your advice once again :?:

I think we have had our first duck egg! again. As you all advised the last time the huge egg I had was a double yoker from one of our hens.

This time its quite small and off white colour and has a oily/waxy feel to the shell, this was yesterday morning and had another this morning. Now both of these eggs were in with another egg in the nest boxes.

Ive posted picture, let me know what you think, thanks :)

Thanks Snowy feeling well chuffed with my little duckies

Could I ask you another question noticed that one of the ducks (Clover) has been standing on top of one of the other ducks (Fern) back when they are in the pond and nibble the back of her neck

Is this normal? is it similar to when hens est a pecking order? :?

I believe this is pretend mating which is normal. Do they bob their heads up and down before one appears to hop on the others' back?
