Omlet Smart Autodoor - New in box

we've had our two gingernut rangers for nearly six months and quite early on they seemed to damage their neck feathers as they guzzle in their trough ( standard Omlet one that came with our Eglu Go). Have tried adjusting height of the trough but has made no difference although clearly feathers take a while to grow back in any event. The hens are very well in all other ways but don't look so lovely with this damage and I'm concerned about possible future infection etc there.

Is there an optimum height for this trough or should I just ditch it and get something they can eat from with having their necks rubbing?? I'd be grateful for any thoughts/feedback/experience.

I think they are meant to be on the ground, with the hooks just to secure them and keep them from toppling over. I didn't know that at the start so I put mine up higher - high enough so pigeons can't reach them when the girls are out & the run door is open. Never had any damage to my lot - I have the glug & grub for the classic though, and I think they might be shaped differently...?

Hi, I have four chickens - and two standard hybrids one of whom has exactly the same issue as your ladies. Daisy's neck feathers are almost non existant or very sparce at best (she goes through phases). We have moved the feeders height, location, position, etc - all the others are fine and we have put it down to the way that Daisy shoves her head in to eat that is causing more friction. In the end my OH and have given up and just keep an eye on her to make sure that she is fine in every other way.

I am just relieved to know that we are not the only "parents" with this issue
