quailtastic
Hello Our quail have stopped laying. We heard that this can happen in the cooler / darker months, but first week of September?? Is that normal. They have an eglu but I think they prefer to 'rough it' outdoors. Is there anything we can do to lengthen the egg laying e.g. heat or light??? Thank you Michelle
Lewis
Its all to do with the hours of sunlight they recieve everyday - I do know the proper word but can't think atm, can look in my textbooks later I bought my quail in to the side passage (with the Guinea Pig) in a rabbit hutch over winter and so they had the light though the window and there was a light out there for them, and they carried on laying throughout. Their light was on a timer but then we turned it off for a while just to give them a rest from laying Other than that have they been wormed? or you could try Egg Shell Improver in their feed, which has Calcium and Potassium in it
