Henergy Posted September 18, 2011 Share Posted September 18, 2011 My speckledy Megg has laid a large egg today & it is smeared at one end with blood. I've checked her over & she looks ok. Is it just something that happens sometimes ? She does lay quite large eggs almost all the time - probably about 3 or 4 large double yolkers then a smaller one then back to the large ones again. Bramble Posted September 18, 2011 Share Posted September 18, 2011 I'm sure someone will be along shortly who knows the proper answer to this, but all I can say is that this happened to one of my chooks last year (I don't know which was the culprit). There were two days when there was an egg with blood on, they all seemed fine and it hasn't happened since. I think it is just one of those things, but I was worried and posted on here and the advice seemed to be not to worry too much if everyone is ok. HOpe your girl will be fine!
