Sterile peritonitis suprelorin - happy update

Recommended Posts

Great to hear that Colin is doing well :D

One of our ex-batts had the suprelorin implant after being drained of her sterile peritonitis fluid. It was marvel for her. This was back in July 2010, but I wish I'd known about it sooner for her - she'd been having egg problems for ages.

The (wonderful) vet charged £55.44 for the implant, plus £40.53 for the gas to knock her out for the operation (she was also drained of the peritonitis yuk at the same time, which cost £28).

The implant was never replaced, as she left us to free range in the sky six months later due to tumours on her liver. But when the vet helped her on her way he was able to review the implant situation, and was happy it was still working as it should - even after six months. Over those six months we saw no signs of returning peritonitis or any other discomfort in her.

I won't hesitate to give our new girls the implant if they show signs of egg troubles.
