thenewchick
What do you think is the latest age a Welsummer would lay her first egg? I hatched three chicks and two of them (one Leghorn and one Orpington) are well into laying eggs most days, but none from the Welsummer (hatched 4th April 2011). When do you think I should give up hope of her laying an egg?
Space Chick
If she doesn't lay in the next few weeks then it may be spring... I have had a pure breed that was over a year old before she laid her first egg, so don't worry. I have girls that were hatched a fortnight after yours that are showing no signs of laying yet
thenewchick
Oh thank you - so no need to worry then! I will be patient and wait for the lovely brown eggs - she is so beautiful she looks so lovely just brightening up the garden with all her pretty colours in her feathers. daxigirl
I got Pebbles at 10 weeks at the beginning of Sept 10 and she started laying in mid Feb 11 lovely brown eggs. Having a moult strike at moment and concentrating on covering her bald head and bum. Still a right madam.
