Light Sussex Health Concerns HELP!!

Recommended Posts

hi, i have recently purchased a light sussex hen around 8 months old, she has a red comb and looks very healthy, apart from the fact that i am treating her neglected legs / feet for Scaly leg mite!

I introduced her to my recent flock a week ago and i have noticed over the last few days that she doesn't seem to be feeding. She is not being bullied and is mixing very well with the rest of the flock. She isn't laying yet (for me) and has watery poops. she is losing feathers too !! Could she be going through a moult?

How can i tell if this is the problem?

It could be the stress of the move as Egghead says, stress can cause a moult, runny poo and lack of eggs

If she is full on moulting though could she be older than you think?

check her crop to ensure she is eating ok and maybe take her aside and feed her some corn or treats to help her bounce back a bit, if she has scaley leg then chances are there could be other health problems caused by neglect such as worms or anaemia so worming her then putting her on a good tonic will be a start
