scaley leg and lice very poorly girl

Recommended Posts

Hi, the little pekin isobel that i picked up on monday that was poorly has improved no end, i think the long journey didnt help her but on closer inspection she has severe scaley legs. I think this must be why she seemed a bit unbalanced and didnt want to move around much. I have sprayed them with the nettex scaley leg stuff but was wondering what is the best remmidy for it.There are so many products. Is sudocrem any good? She also has a lump on the top of her legs that looks like a bit of sweetcorn. Her legs are very pale compared to the other pekins i have. Any tips would be great please, thankyou for reading.

Good to hear that she has improved. I'm sure the scaly legs have got something to do with her problem. Yes, Sudocrem is very good - it contains Benzyl Benzoate, which is what my vet prescribed for one of my girls with scaly leg.

I hope she continues to improve :D

Thanks tweety, had another good look at her today and discovered she has lice aswell poor girl. no wonder she is so lethargic bless her. i just cant understand it, the other 3 pekins i got from the same place are a picture of health. Now i am worried they will all be infested. Will clean the housing out with poultry shield tomorrow. Do you think ishould take her to the vets to give her something stronger for the lice, i have doused her with louse powder but not sure this will do the job very well. :(

Yes, it might be a good idea to take her to the vet for something that will treat all the parasites living on your poor girl. Some LifeGuard tonic or something similar in her water might help her recover too.

I would also give the other 3 a good dusting with louse powder just in case.

Hi, isobel seems worse today. She is making a noise that is like a rattle sound as she breathes. Will take her to the vets tomorrow. I am so upset, i think she has been poorly for a while and she is obviously very run down, all her feathers are worn away underneath where she hasnt been able to perch as she is not strong enough to jump up. I have to lift her in and out of the cube. Am fearing the worst for the por little thing. Wish i had taken her to the vets sooner now, so cross with myself. :(
