squiffs
I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in chicken clinic... Elsie has been crouching and a lot less skittish the last week or so so we were excitedly waiting for her first egg (only 4 months after we bought her!!) I came home from work this evening and found a lovely little cream coloured egg in the nest box... but it was covered in dried streaks of blood. I promptly whisked her out of the coop and into the outhouse because I was worried she might have prolapsed and wanted her in the light to check... nothing, not even a speck on her feathers. I checked her sister Doris, too, in case it was her... nothing again. Is it normal for the first egg to sometimes cause bleeding? Could she be bleeding internally? I'm slightly anxious now
PeckyBeak
I wouldn't worry, in my experience it isn't unusual for the first one or two eggs to be streaked with blood. I would just monitor it.
Space Chick
I have had loads of first eggs which have been covered in blood. I wouldn't worry

Lewis
Congrats No I wouldn't worry if its only a bit of blood and she seems fine, just her laying tackle getting into the swing of it!
