tracyann
Well, it has struck again, some might say chickens of fate... Was browsing another online poultry forum yesterday afternoon and a poor lady is having to downsize and move before Christmas and has to rehome three hybrid hens. As my 12 chooks are rattling around in a huge coop, I offered them a home. Just waiting to finalise the details. Feel sad though as she is really sad having to give them up as the new place doesn't allow poultry. Hope her son takes it ok (he's 7)... Feel a wee bit guilty getting excited over three more hens... That'll bring the tally up to 14 hens and 1 cockerel...
pips_pekins
I bet it is a real relief for the original owner that she has been able to find such a lovely home for them so quickly. It must have been really worrying for her. Well done for taking them on. Don't feel guilty about it, I would be sooo excited if I was getting new girls. Just enjoy them and I hope the intros go smoothly. Perhaps you can keep in touch with the 7 year old with photo updates and news if he is very upset, although usually at that age, they move on quite quickly! Don't forget, we need photos of your new additions
tracyann
I really can't see there being any intro problems. I'm keeping them in a separate pen for a couple of weeks for quarantine purposes anyway, but they will all be able to see each other. This worked when I introduced the marans and welsummers, no problems whatsoever. Frank was just put in and we hoped for the best...
pips_pekins
I am quite I would love to add another couple to my little gang but don't have a suitable second home to quarantine them in at the moment. Maybe in the spring. Do keep us up to date tracyann
