craftyhunnypie
Hubby, my mum & myself had a lovely time yesterday at the Xmas market in our village. It was all indoor in the big pavillion - perhaps as well with the weather being so lousy. We bought more there, than we ever would have at the German Markets. The prices were fab & the choice was brill. I bought a red & White Scandinavian Reindeer cushion, a German wooden ornament a decent size), some button dangly earrings, a button & coconut shell brooch, a Necklace & 2 jars of Caramelised Onion Chutney. I've signed myself up to an advanced crochet course beginning mid January & me & mum are also going to go a textile artists house for some tuition on felting ( bags & pictures), next time mum comes to stay. Mum bought a crochet baby dress for my niece to be ( arriving very soon), a necklace, a wooden boy & girl dolly dressing up set ( for my niece & nephew to mess with when a bit older), a little wooden train, a knit & felt rose brooch kit & some felted flowers brooch kits. My hubby did some super secret shopping. I think for some of my Xmas prezzies. We had a Welsh male voice choir who were brilliant & it was a great atmoshere. Please don't go for markets they really were disapointing, but lovely town, very pretty and a lovely day out with a good crew.Lucky I am not a "shopper"
Sageandonion
SageandOnion - we are going to the Oxford market next Saturday as are taking the boys to Magpie Lane concert in St Micheal Northgate at 3.00pm and so will wander down thereafter. Happy to report back but it closes on Sunday so maybe not much point!? In spite of being only 25 mins from central Oxford we have never made it but may now turn it into an annual event. Its held in the courtyard of the castle/prison and thats fun to visit in its own right . Also the Covered Market is fantastic at any time of year 'tho Vegetarians won't enjoy the full on fur and feathers hanging up outside the butchers shops ! Hubs goes to Lubeck regularlly - he was there last Monday/Tuesday but didn't make it to the market Apparently its a wonderful city - maybe we'll make it there at some point! Did you get to the Oxford market Soapdragon? If so how was it? We didn't make it unfortunately (OH's asthma playing up). Will try and get there next year. Looks lovely judging by online pics.
