monty
Hi Folks Our ducks are 9 weeks old and looking big and healthy. As we are new to this game, when do we cut the flight feathers off, as we do not want them flying away. Monty
gooner.girl
I have the same question. Mine are 9/10 weeks old and i don't know whether to/how to clip their feathers. I haven't seen them fly at all but they did escape the garden today (though think that may have been underneath the fence ) Lesley will know! Lesley???!!!!! Lesley
Apparently, you don't clip the flight feathers on ducks - you pinion them. This involves removing the feathers completely and is done when they are young/the feathers first start to grow. I don't know much about it - you may find more info. in the Practical Poultry forum. Our ducks have never made any attempt to fly.
