Ophelia
Hello, When I was emptying the droppings tray I found a strange egg shaped lump. I broke it in half to see what it was but I have no idea. I have attached some photos below. Does anyone know what it is? I have 6 ex-batts that arrived about a month ago. They are being fef ex-batt crumbs with a little bit of chicken spice. http://www.photobox.co.uk/my/album?album_id=1096180122&host=http://post.brain2.photobox.com/post&serial=1326748370654526_20909479&uploader=http Thanks. The Dogmother
Can't see the photo but it sounds like a lash to me, try searching the forum for them; there are plenty of threads about them.
Ophelia
Thanks. Seems it is a lash. The problem is I don't know which one laid it. I will get some Avipro and worm them. Hopefully that will help. Op.
The Dogmother
Avipro won't make any difference to their oviduct, worming with Flubenvet is always a good idea if you don't know when they were last wormed. There's no real rhyme or reason for lashes except that they seem to occur more in high yield birds, especially ex-batts. I'd suggest though that you either feed them ordinary layers pellets or cut the ex-batt feed with regular feed as some folks find that the ex-batts feed is too stimulating.... it made mine lay soft shelled eggs when I tried it out on them when it was first launched. You may find that a liquid tonic such as Life-Guard is more beneficial than the spice stuff too. Just a tip though.
