Uma
One of my older girls has started laying tiny eggs, yesterday and today. I am not sure who it is exactely but I wondered if anyone could shed any light on why she might be doing this? She will be almost 3 and they are all healthy. We do have some new girls, so wondered if she was just telling me about her displeasure! The eggs are about a quater of the size of a normal egg-think mini eggs..... but otherwise seem normal! SMS6
I've had a couple of these lately from our little ginger hydrid and one last year from our Sussex, - I read some where that they are wind eggs. have you cracked them open? When I did ours they were mostly all white inside with just a streak of yellow. My chicken seems to have got over the blip now and is laying fine again, I had read that they can happen at either end of egg laying cycle or when something upsets them. Sue
The smallest one I ever had was about twice the size of a pea. I don't know why she bothered to go into the nest box I haven't had one in years now, and looking back I think it might have been slightly faulty feeding or as you say stress. Either way it usually settles down within a week or so, or even less. Nothing to worry about I think
