seagullukuk
We hatched three chicks last spring. All are pure breeds namely Fresian, welsummer and cream leg bar. Still no eggs at all was hoping now the days are longer maybe the cold has set them back or do we need to remain patient?
laurmurf
Pure breeds do take the winter off. I've got lots in the garden who aren't laying yet - be patient late February / early March are the months you'll see them laying.
seagullukuk
Should they have started before they took the winter off
Redwing
Yes pullets hatched at the end of march normally come in to lay in autumn and lay at least some eggs before winter sets in but it's not 100% As you haven't seen any eggs from any of them I'd say it was ok and hat they possibly missed their window of opportunity It's worth worming them just to eliminate that possibility
