Groovychook
Can anybody recommend one that doesn't cost the earth? The local squirrels are doing very well out of our peanut feeders! What with the price of peanuts having rocketed in recent months, I'm thinking that it might save me a bit of money if I upgrade the feeders. They are just basic wire mesh at the moment. Some of the squirrel proof ones I've looked at, cost a small fortune Just wondered if they do work or if anyone can recommend a cheaper one? Olly
I'd love to know. I have a mesh one - the squirrel broke the last one, and I've already seen him swinging off this one filling his little pouches. I'm not convinced that the expensive ones are really squirrel-proof. I did once spray Ukadex anti-peck spray on the fence though, in a fit of rage, and that seemed to put him off until it rained!
Groovychook
They are so infuriating and very bold too. They are not in the slightest bit scared of me... I've walked straight up to one dangling on the feeder before now and poked it- it didn't bat an eyelid and attempted to wee on me How rude!! I had to admire its nerve though. Chucky Mama
I have the seed version of These and they work a treat. I am not sure how much the price varies on the net. When the squirrel tries to feed from it, the metal sleeve slides down and stops them from getting any food out.
Groovychook
Thanks for that Chucky Mama, I might see if they have them at the local garden centre- looks like a clever design!
