bbehr27
I've have the girls nearly 18 months now. I clean them every week. Last week to my horror I noticed small red specks in the corner of the nesting box. After some more checking I realised they were red mites. Today I've jet washed, total kill sprayed and diacom dusted everything. I did notice there were still one or two red blobs crawling around so my next question is how long before the spray takes effect and should I do it all again in a few days? I use the diacom dusting powder regularly but I'm wondering where these criters have suddenly come from? I feel as though I should have been able to prevent this outbreak?? bbehr27
I've cleaned the girls out every week now since the dreaded discovery and finally have got on top of the mites. I've used poultry mite concentrate, aerosol spray and diatom powder. There were only a couple of mites visible this week when I cleaned out. Think I've had a lucky escape.
