ilovechickens
just wondering if anyone had any advice-my araucana cockerel is a bit wobbley today-have watched him and he seems unsteady on his feet (although not to the point of falling over)-most noticeable when he bends to peck. He is eating and drinking and keeping the girls in line but not really himself. i have checked his feet theres nothing stuck on them and no worms in poo. Any ideas anyone? Daphne
Could he have strained a leg/foot? Pick him up and gently check down each leg/foot for warmth/sensitivity. Or got ear mites/infection (balance loss)? Mites are hard to see, as are infections (!) but sometimes you see gunk around the ear.
Patricia W
Take him to the vet. Cockerels hide their illness even more than hens as they take their responsibilities very seriously. We had this with Phillip and it turned out to be a chest infection. A week of Baytril cured him
