Advice Please !?

 

I've just electrified my fence and to be honest the electric current is not that strong, its more of an unpleasant feeling pulse than a Zap. Do you think I've put it up wrong???

I think it's meant to be a tingle rather than a zap for chucks, don't want any fried chickens in the yard!

Thanks for that ! Ha Ha funnily I do actually work for the Colonel! My work colleagues insisted the girls were named after products

I have a tester for mine, according to the makers 3.5kv is the minimum for a fox deterrent. My fence varies between that and 6kv depending on the state of the battery and the weather conditions.

 

Both my cat (landed backwards in a bush ) and my Labrador (thinks the chickens bit his tail ) can verify this is quite a shock. I found it depends what I have on makes a difference to what I feel, with wellies on you can't feel it too much, otherwise it is quite a jolt. Also some people tend to conduct electricity more than others.

 

If you are really concerned a tester like this might be a good purchase

Mine makes your arm go funny for a while but it is mains powered.

Make sure the grass isn't touching about the black coloured netting as this shorts it.

thanks for that, I'll check that the power is strong enough for mr. fox... and perhaps get a tester if I'm not sure... true about what you wear when testing it.. I find if Im wearing a fleece I feel it more...Sad isnt it having to test the Zap in an electric fence.. I was hoping one of the neighbours cats would try it.... they are a bit too smart... if defo work on the chooks tho!!
