Chicken shack
Foxes have been known to grab one bird and make their escape. My daughter had an urban fox take one duck when she was on feet away from him.

WitchHazel
Sorry to hear about this. Have you checked outside your garden as well? Maybe she flew up and over the fence and hasn't worked out how to get back? It's possible that a predator (4 or 2 legged) took her, but am surprised no others were taken or attacked at the same time. Sorry I can't offer any practical advice, the not knowing is horrible. to you and to your remaining duck. lindafw
asuming they were wing clipped and couldn't fly, the choice is preditor attack or hidden in the garden. Check in tiny spaces...under and behind the shed under the wheelbarrow etc etc. Lots of hugs to you sweetie...and watch your girls carefully now
WitchHazel
That reminds me - check under things like upturned flowerpots etc. I vaguely remember last year someone lost a chicken, and they eventually found the poor thing trapped underneath something that had dislodged and trapped them. (sorry to be so vague, I can't remember the details, I just remember it was too late by the time they found her).
