soozie1964
Hi there, One of my girls has a hugley swollen belly/bum/ rear end. She walks really bandy , but other than that is eating- drinking, scratching about. I took her to the vet about 8 months ago, he checked her out and just said there was no egg stuck, and nothing else he could really suggest..other than it could be a tumour of sorts, bit that if it was, she wouldnt last too long ! This was 8 months ago !. She always has pretty runny poo, and her bum gets claggy, but I bathe her regularly and clean her up , and as I said, she eats, drinks and waddles around all day in the garden ? She looks pretty uncomfortable, but from past experience, if they are unhappy, they ususally stop acting 'normal' !! Any ideas, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. )
Tweety
Those symptoms might mean that she has peritonitis, and I would take her back to the vet.
soozie1964
Hi Tweety, yeah, I thought that when I first took her to the vet, but as I said, that was 8 months ago...all the chooks that Ive had with peritonitis before have died within a few days, and have stopped eating and drinking..she seems fine ( even tho she looks pretty awful ) is eating and drinking and waddling around with her mates ? very odd. Might take her back again though, just to be sure . Thanks ))
sandyhas3chucks
usual symptoms of peri.. but does sound like a tumour as been this long. If so it will depend how fast it is growing and her comfort, I sadly lost one that grew fast in a matter of weeks, but know of one that lived 3 years with a lsarge tumour. she had steroid injections .. maybe find a slightly more chook friendly vet for opinion?
