jasperaliceuk
Oh heck - this is my fear too - I'm just going for the isolation at the moment. Did you get your chooks from Golden Valley - wondered if the owner might help you? Sue
nikkichick
I did yes. Thats my back up plan. Go back chook in hand as it were. It stresses me out more than my girl i think The other girl is sooooo bald bless her. All up her back and all round her bum and both legs!!! cheekymonkey68
I put one on this Sunday.... 1) you must have two of you 2) circlip pliers to hold the nose clip apart 3) one person holding towel clad chicken get the towel up as far round her neck as poss so just head is poking out, other with bumpa bit in pliers ready. 4) gently squeeze chickens beak at base,so she opens her mouth and edge the bumpa bit in go back as far as you can then let go with the pliers, bumpa bit will click into the nostrils and that should be you done. 5) DO IT IN DAYLIGHT so you can see where the nostrils are. Its not easy if you're not used to handling your chicken, as I was scared to hurt her... we had to swap round and I made my partner hold the chicken as while he's normally handy with pliers he was too much of a woose to put the bumpa bit on! Best of luck, you'll get it on ok... she'll be clicking about for a little while afterwards, but it only takes a couple of hours for her to get used to it. Marion ps. I got mine from golden valley too three weeks ago...

nikkichick
no she's a black rock hybrid. She's always been the boss but i feel so sorry for tikka, she's naked!! I'd like to give her feathers a sporting chance of growing back (which will hopefully have allround health benefits as she won't be constantly channelling all her energy into growing back feathers)!! I amy well take you up on that, it would be very helpful!
cheekymonkey68
no problem, I'll be home before its gets dark tomorrow by 5ish and probably earlier wednesday, otherwise I'll be around at the weekend if you need some pliers!! I live off Tilford Road at Beacon Hill, I can hear three lots of chickens from my house do you suppose any of them are yours ?? !! Its horrid to see bald bottoms, but I had a chicken with a hole so had to do something, it all seems to have stopped for the moment and everyone is happy, I hope it'll last!
