munkee1965
One of my girls has had her comb pecked by one of the others. It's got a bit missing now and has been bleeding. I've bathed it with some water and she seems Ok. Is there anything else I should do or will it now heal on it's own?
Daphne
It should scab over and then the scab will drop off. The only thing to watch out for is more pecking - chooks are attracted by the colour red.
Eggasperated
One of my girls used to peck at anothers comb when she was in the nest box, sometimes it was a job to stop the bleeding so I would bring her in and keep her quiet until it stopped, then spray with purple spray before she went back so it wasn't a temptation for the others to peck. Ain't Nobody Here
That happened to one of my girls . I put cornflour on the wound but once it stopped bleeding the others weren't interested in it and it healed well on its own.
