chris170284 Posted May 13, 2012 Share Posted May 13, 2012 hi im currently incubating some eggs in my home made incubator but ive been having problems with keeping the temp steady after i turn them so ive made another one that keeps the heat in long enough when turning eggs,but no i have another problem. i was using the old style thermometer but ive just bought a digital one so i put it in the new incubator got the temp steady for 24hours,just before i transferred the eggs i put the old thermometer in with the new one now im getting 2 different readings,32 and 37.5 which do i trust and how much above and below 37.5 degs can it be without killing the chicks?thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Redwing Posted May 13, 2012 Share Posted May 13, 2012 I'd trust the digital one personally but a third thermometer would help decide which is correct The temp can go down and it will only cause the hatch to be delayed unless the drop is permenant then of course the eggs will die. high temps are more serious, 40 even for a few minutes will kill the eggs Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
