Very cross hen

Recommended Posts

After finally getting round to fencing off a generous area of the garden for exclusive use of the hens, I have a problem. It seems to have upset Daisy chief hen. She appears very cross and has paced and strutted up and down the netting for hours now. Very repetative strutting up and down . . was it wrong to give them total freedom of the garden for three weeks then restrict it? Will she get used to it?

Yes, two escape attempts already. :? I'm not sure how Daisy got into the main garden but the others weren't too pleased. I did catch her and put her back which made her sulk, she was not pleased. Then later this afternoon I found Darcy in the orchard, she had flown over and onto the 5ft stone wall to get in. She wasn't too pleased to be put back either. My OH has suggested we fence off part of the orchard for them and put a plank up to the wall to help them in. I'm sure these hens rule our house at the moment. I can see them planning escape no3. In protest there have been no eggs today! :(
