Chook with mucky bum

Recommended Posts

We have an australorp that has a mucky bum, it's been going on for a while- she's two years old and it's been an on and off problem. We have to clean her regularly which is pretty unpleasant for all concerned!

The others are fine and she is lays almost every day, she is perky, eats and drinks well and her tail is up. Also we worm them every 4 months and check for mites/powder them regularly. They do eat quite a lot of greens (spring cabbage mainly). Should we be worried? Any advice on what we can do gratefully received.

In that case, I'm not sure what to suggest. I wouldn't have thought that the green veg would cause the problem. If she is perky, eating and drinking normally then I wouldn't worry too much.

Bokashi can help firm up loose poos, and I give my girls Herban if they have upset tummies - so maybe try one or the other next time it happens.

HTH :D
