Where do you get your wood chip?

Recommended Posts

I'm very excited, as my coop and run arrived this morning and is looking fab, if a little empty :( . Frustratingly I can't go and get my girls until at least another week, but it does give me time to set it up a little better before they arrive. I bought a nice, long run, so that I can leave them in there comfortably when I am not around and I want to put it in a permanent spot with wood chip as a base in the run itself. There is no roof, so it will get wet and I'm guessing I need hardwood chips from what I have read. However, I haven't found any locally and postage for small amounts seems so steep. I can get hold of playbark easily, but will that rot down quickly and be a false economy?

Any recommendations?

Thank you,

Yep calling/emailing tree surgeons is the best way forward. I had several willing to deliver and ended up getting a tonne delivered for £20! Way too much but the neighbours had some!

He is willing to deliver more in six months when I need to change it! Excellent hardwood chip and so easy.
