angeluk69
Yay!! I've been umming and arring about which sort of WIR to go for size wise, trying to figure out if we could do a good job cheaply ourselves, comparing quotes etc etc...and i've done it!! Because of the space we have available in my veg patch, of which the chooks have been allocated a third (approx 9ft x 12ft) and it backing onto a 6ft fence we only need 3 sides, which keeps the costs down we are going to have a wire/netting roof for the time being as I am concerned about the chooks getting out, but also concerned as we have a colony of red kites about. The covered house will be staying in the WIR and to provide shelter we have a wooden crate from my OH's work which is a Jimmy Choo one, but I've renamed it the Jimmy Chook crate which can be turned on its side to provide a lovely shaded area. I'm really excited now!!
wannabe smallholder
So jealous! we have searched endlessly trying to source a WIR which was the right size, right gauge wire, local company etc. In the end we've decided to do it ourselves which I'm sure will be great and a real sense of achievement but in the meantime I'm stressing slightly; what if it isn't right, what if it collapse? (such faith I have!) I hope your WIR is fabulous and all that you want. Perhaps some pictures when its all set up? Enjoy!
