Unsecure chicken perches

With Melody being broody I have been taking her out of the egg box, putting her in through the front door and then closing the bedroom door.

I did that yesterday afternoon and then shut them up for the night when they went to bed.

Imagine my horror when later this morning I saw an unusual amount of daylight in their house.

 

I had only left the egg box door off all night

 

Both girls were safe and well, in fact Melody was still in the egg box when I put the door back on.

I'm glad foxy didn't appear to be around last night.

 

I was surprised though that neither of them took the chance to explore the garden

Wow, that was lucky . I seem to remember doing the same thing a few years ago (thankfully with no ill effects either!)
