Lame ex-batt

Recommended Posts

Hiya,

One of my two remaining ex-batts Margo came out of the coop yesterday morning very lame with quite a bad limp. She was fine the evening before. Took her to the vet yesterday after work and they can't find anything wrong.

The limp is quite bad but she seems to be quite happy although Laura is taking pleasure is chasing her round a bit now

Any advice as to what might be wrong? She is very accident prone and throws herself out of the coop every morning as if she has been there for days - i open it up at 6am so hardly late

Should I keep her still for a while give it chance to heal if she has pulled a muscle? Any other suggestions?

I can't totally seperate her as I only have two.

Thanks

I've had a couple of ex batts develop a limp. I rub the sore leg with arnica and keep a close eye on them with a view to taking them to the vets if there is no improvement in 24 / 48 hours. I've never had to take them to the vets yet so I take it they have just been sprains. Hope your girl picks up.

She's not lost a claw has she? Or not got a mud / poo ball stuck round her claws?

One of my Millefleurs was limping this morning. I have scooped her up near bed time & pulled a long sharp fieldgrass seed out from her foot & then stood her in an old cat litter tray of warm water to bathe it. I then put her safely to bed. Will assess her in the morning.

Nope she is all ok in that respect - looking much better this morning so the arnica mush have worked! Thanks Sandy and Majuka.

She is so accident prone and just has no respect for herself in terms on injury i'm glad i now have arnica in my first aid kit. She even recently ran into a plant pot while FR as she thought I had a treat and got so excited she just ran towards me and stright into it!
