How many chickens in Eglu Cube

I want to buy a Cube as a hospital coop (although I'm wincing at the price). The ladder looks a bit daunting if a chicken is really poorly, can you take the Cube off it's wheels and put it on the ground?

 

If you can, could you somehow still use it with the run (and it still be foxproof).

 

If anybody that has a Cube can help, I'll be very grateful.

Have you thought about an eglu instead? A cube would be a huuuge hospital .

The egIu would be great, but I want it as a decant coop too,for if I get red mites in my wooden house. I need to be able to fit 6 chickens in.

Mine is on the floor and I have a wood/weldmesh run butting up to it

yes you can use the cube on the ground (bear in mind the run wont fit though)

 

In fact you can actually buy the cube without the wheels and ladder and save yourself some money

 

I have to say though I think an Eglu is a better bet, the inside is a better 'terrain' for a sick chicken once the bars are removed

Redwing (if you read this). What is the difference in the floorings? Why are the little Eglus better? Many thanks, the flooring is something I hadden thought about.

the cube contains a ridge where the two trays meet in the middle and also a step over in to the nestbox

 

An Eglu is generally more suitable though the nest box is obviously raised

 

A Rablu is better still really as it doesnt have a nestbox so more useable space inside and also has no slide out tray so no draughts come in the back of it
