balti
Has anyone used these? There seems to be a few on the market. Some of them www.agropharm.co.uk seem very expensive. Maybe some of them are for massive chicken farming and not just the odd eglu.... Some say because smoke rises its really only sorts the problem out ' upwards' and not does not kill anything on ground level etc. Would love to hear from anyone who uses and thinks they are a benefit? and what ones... Thanks Trace
LottyJ1
Hiya, Yes I used the smaller ones last year when we had red mites I think it helped but they need to be used in conjunction with a good disinfectant (I used poultry shield and salosan) and lots and lots of Diatom! I powerwashed out the house several times, smoked bombed it, disinfected it and covered everywhere with diatom. It worked in the end and so far no mites this year However i now use so much diatom they would have no hope!
Redwing
The only way to ensure that the smoke gets in to all the crevices in the coop is to seal it up completely which is very tricky, all gaps and vents need to be closed or taped over
