introductions i feel im on a see saw

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am still trying to introduct my 3 amberlinks to my 2 columbines i have had them seperated mesh as suggested and been putting them together in the run for upto an 1 supervised with water pistols for the odd peck and had them free ranging a few times together, after an introduction lastnight we put them back seperately and one of the columbines started just pecking at the other just following it having a pack at the base of its tail id brought some pecking spray for then i was introducing to see if it would help with the pecking and used that. tonight when i finished work the columbine had continued to peck it seems today made a bald patch when you move afew top feathers at the base of the tail and made it raw, it was all wet with clear liquid over the wound from the pecking not much blood tho. so now ive seperated the 2 columbines waited till now to go out to give the wound time to try a dry abit before appling some sudacream im going to buy some purple antiseptic spray tomorrow night and seperate them both in the morning when we let them out the coop they both went in to bed tonight. im not sure why its done this and looking for advice, the columbine had a wound when we got them after the first night putting them in with the exsisting amberlinks but that was the 25th may and the would healed and new feathers were covering the area.

i dont know whether im coming or going its been so up and down because sometimes they seem to be making progress and all mixing better then on the next intro their pecking again.

HELP PLEASE...

hi

thanks for replying, the columbine which pecked we put in with the amberlinks and it got pecked amd i didnt want to put the one which got pecked with the wound as its nearlt raw its that sore i think it just stress it and it will get pecked, i spoke to the lady i brought all my chickens from when i first got the amberlinks in feburary she said about introducing and putting the amberlinks in with the columbines leaving the top hen till last but all 3 of the amberlinks seem to be wanting to peck. the columbines seem abit dizty they soon get a bit stressed and start running round mad trying to get away once start getting pecked at. im just not sure why this columbine started on the other lastnight as they have stuck together with them being new and put in together.

its been 4 weeks i guess since i got them and they were 15 weeks ish old one only started laying 3 days ago am i trying too soon to start introducing them
