Leicester_H
Hi Lily has been laying less and less frequently (which is to be expected for her age, about 3.5 years). She was egg bound once - several years ago - (out of hours vet mis-diagnosed and prescribed antibiotics!!). She also goes broody at the drop of a hat! She has bouts of laying squidgy eggs, paper thin egg shelled eggs etc - but then goes back to laying normal eggs . On tuesday I found the remains of 2 odd eggs in her run (not 100% sure that she laid both in the same day, but I think she did). She hasn't laid since (not unusual) This morning, just found normal egg inside a what looks like a thick gloopy membrane in the run and Lily is in the cat box (where she normally lays eggs and sleeps) as if she thinks she is laying another egg (she won't come out for treats) She seems alert, responds to talking. Is there anything I should be doing ? (being friday, if she needs the vet I need to decide ASAP). Edited to add Just let her out to FR - bit slow, but otherwise acting normally. Found another papery thin broken egg shell in the cat box. Thanks in advance, H
Egghead68
I would give her some calcium to help "contractions", e.g. broken-up baked egg sheets or a supplement. Hope she picks up.
sandyhas3chucks
and I would consider an implant to put an end to her egg laying nonsense
Leicester_H
She seems quite subdued - not really eating. Having to tempt her with tuna (with some Calcium supplement liquid) She seem to get a bit better as the day goes on. But I fear that (as before) by the time they show symptoms its too late - I REALLY hope not. H
