Newbie confused about static run floors

Recommended Posts

I have looked through various similar posts but am struggling to get my head around the right answer.....

We currently have a cube with an extension, it is placed on a section of our garden on top of membrane and it is surrounded by a wooden frame and filled with hardwood chippings (in a similar manner to described by omlet). I bought the hardwood chippings from B&Q but they were cheap as they had been discontinued and we will soon need to replace them.

I have read about easibed/easichick but some people say this needs to be a covered run (although they also say it dries out quickly, but also is absorbent - head hurts!). Our run is covered by the omlet heavy duty clear cover (the top and one side, not the extreme one) - does this mean we can use easibed/easichick or not?

Also, does anyone else have any suggestions as to the best things to use in a set up as ours?

Thanks in advance!

If your run is even partly covered, you'll be fine using bedding like Easibed. It IS absorbant which is good for drying up poops but if it gets wet with rain and doesn't get a chance to dry out, then it can get a bit yucky.

Why don't you try it with one bale and see if it works for you :) ? You can always try something different if it doesn't!

Thanks Ain't "Ooops, word censored!"ody Here, sounds like a very sensible suggestion! Was a bit worried about cleaning out mess if it went wrong, but shouldn't be any harder than just now. Off to find some now! :-) Although I might wait until it's a bit more like summer, need to build an ark here!
