Hi can anyone offer any advice please. I have an eglu go which due to my small garden as to remain in the same spot , I have an all weather shade covering the run but I'm really struggling to keep all the wood chippings dry (obv due to recent downpours). I regularily rake over the chippings and have added more on several occassions now. smell is also quite bad at the minute too with lots of flies/midges.

Hi and welcome to the forum, Im assuming your run is on grass? I did try that at first but the I moved it onto a solid base with a deep layer of hard wood chips. Really you need to cover it as much as you can, tarpaulins or shower curtains are a good option and can be secured with bungee cords for easy removal if we get a summer. I poo pick the front of my extended cube run daily and once a week crawl in, dig it over with a trowel and then dig in stalosan. This kills nasties, and I think keeps it smelling fresh. There are other makes you can buy, I'm thinking of trying diamostous powder as it seems quite popular and the pick Stalostan makes my white silkies look a pretty pink! The other thing which I think helps is they have a bokashi bran porridge weekly, supposed to make the poo less smelly.

Hope that helps but I am sure others will be along with more ideas.

Mine is on a weedproof membrane with easybed. I have the GO waterproof cover and a tarp. Depending on the weather the tarp is either completely off or covers one side. Overnight I cover it completely as the girls are tucked up in bed. I use Biodri weekly and rake over daily. so far so good.

What is the drainage like under the gravel?

Hey... Drainage seems good as there are no pools of water gathering .. I have the full length all weather cover too but due to the runs position I have the door along one side of the run meaning during heavy rain the floors getting wet.
