kittyl
I'm buying a big bag of this for my guineapigs, I wondered if it may be good to use for my chicks when they go into their outside coop, maybe warmer & cosier than auboise. Any views on this?
jrsankanu
sorry I'm of no help but it sounds more like something you'd get to become a power ranger!
kittyl
sorry I'm of no help but it sounds more like something you'd get to become a power ranger! nope, and its not something you role down a hill in either! I'm actually surprised how many people havent heard of it! I think its rather like carefresh but much cheaper.
Redwing
I've heard of a few people using it and they have been very impressed. I dont know whether its availability, quantity needed or cost that means its not commonly used in the poultry world
kittyl
Maybe. I'm sure it wouldnt be suitable in a run, it would get soggy, but for the coop perhaps, I'll give it a try & report back the results!
CassieP
I used it for my horse once and didn't get on with it. Bedmax is super though, I just use hay or straw in the coop though

And second the above, can't be used outside, if you want something for the run use bark chippings
Shirl
We have used it in our covered outdoor run it was ok. I find all the horse bedding much of a muchness and just use whatever I can get at the time.

And second the above, can't be used outside, if you want something for the run use bark chippings Cassie, sorry to nitpick but I felt I should mention, I believe bark chippings are a bad thing to use in a chicken run, I cant remember why now, but woodchips are good. Also I was told that straw is fine but hay isnt, something to do with fungal spores. Perhaps someone else could confirm I'm not talking rubbish?
