At what age should i start giving oyster shell to my new girls?

They are 16 weeks so should i just put some in and they can take it when they want?

Oyster shell is really given for the calcium content.

It depends what your feeding programme is, my hens have round the clock access to layers pellets and have never needed calcium supplements.

 

If your birds have access to non complete feed (table s"Ooops, word censored!"s, mixed corn etc.) for most of the day, you may need to provide something for them to take.
