auntielizzie
Hi, today is day two of having five chickens having brought home Mrs Beaky, Bertha and Betsy yesterday. Betty and Bessie were much much happier today and apart from Bessie squaring up to Mrs Beaky a few times through the eglu run, they have all been very content - Betty and Bessie even forgot about the new girls long enough this afternoon to enjoy a lengthy dust bath. As far as I can tell so far, it looks as if Bessie wants Mrs Beaky to know that she (Bessie) is top chook, no messing about thank you very much She puffs herself up and stands as tall as she possibly can then looks her straight in the eye - "Im watching you" she seems to be saying Anyway, Im being very patient and Im going to take intros as slowly as I can. I have been feeding them treats next to the eglu run to allow them all to get used to sharing food/space and that's going well at the moment too. The other good news is that all three new girls laid an egg today They were all quite small eggs compared to the older girls and Mrs Beaky's was the smallest, despite her being the biggest newby. To end the day, all girls took themselves off to bed nicely, so it's so far so good
