Tweety
It sounds like peritonitis, and she will need to see a vet ASAP.
Ain't Nobody Here
I agree I'm afraid, peritonitis . I've had one with it who recovered well with treatment. Good luck .
Big bird
Is there not anything that I can do myself. I do have Baytril and just wondered if there was anything I can feed her to help pass whatever is inside her...
Tweety
Not really. Her belly may have to be drained and she may need anti-inflammatory treatment as well as antibiotics. Have a look on the FAQs about chicken health, and you will find some helpful information about peritonitis and possible treatments. The hen will be feeling very uncomfortable, to say the least, so really does need professional treatment I'm afraid.
Ain't Nobody Here
It's an infection so not really anything you can "drain out", unfortunately.
Egghead68
You can't do anything yourself. She needs to see a vet for antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and, probably, a suprelorin implant or hormone injection to stop it happening again. She needs to go to the vet asap. Good luck.
