savena5630
Got my first egg yesterday from one of my three hybrids, and I was looking forward to another today, but nothing Why is this?? And do you think the fact that one had laid an egg will encourage the others? They are about 25 weeks old. Thanks!
Olly
They are just getting into laying, and it's not uncommon to get eggs only intermittently at first. On the other hand, you could get two eggs laid in one day (rare but it happens!) or double-yolkers, or all sorts of odd eggs to begin with. I think they just lay when they are ready, but if they are the same age and one has started laying then the others should not be far behind. good_egg
Congratulations on the first egg. Don't worry, they don't suddenly start laying like clockwork... You may have to wait a few days for the next one and they won't necessarily lay every day (especially in the winter), but they will soon settle into a rythm. I suspect if they are all from the same group and all the same type the others may try soon as well, but no guarantees they like to keep you in suspense!
