Clutching at straws!

Recommended Posts

Hiya - Unfortunately, one of the showgirl chicks died. I've no idea why - we inspected it & everything - but no idea. Just one of those things you get with hatching etc.

The other two are doing brilliantly, coming up to 5 weeks of age. I think I also have one of each ( male & female) - which I am very pleased about. The Japanese bantams I hatched with them are also doing very well, although quite a lot of head furniture & wattles showing on a lot of them. I know there will be some definite boys, 2 I could cope with, but any more & it would be unlucky. One of the mums does have quite a large comb though, so it could be that. I'll know a bit more in a couple of weeks time. They are all little luvvies. :D

To be honest - the more you get..the more it's a case of you will never know from one day to the next how many chickens you will have. Sounds harsh, but chickens are sensitive little sweethearts. One minute they can be running round, the next they can just keel over & you've lost a dear friend/pet. :(

I will get & take some photos for you tomorrow. I'll get them to pose.
