Aldi have got a hoover attachment for cleaning out fire places, burners and Rayburns for £15.

I have just bought one as we have an open fire and a Rayburn hopefully it will stop the floating

ash after the fireplace is cleaned or the Rayburn is serviced!

Guess where I'm going one evening this week? Having said that, my log burner doesn't make too much dust when I empty it as I have a lidded ashpan to empty it into.

We don't have an Aldi near us, unfortunately,

 

However, I am going to Reading later today, and I believe there is one there. I might swing by and take a look.

 

I normally use a Henry when I need to vacuum round the stove, but I can see that the nozzle might be a good idea, especially as it seems to have a filter in it.

Just seen it online, might have to make a visit to check it out.

 

I can never do a full shop there but do use Aldi for some staples; I started going there for dishwasher tablets, which came first in the Which? report and are half the price of leading/own brands. Have now discovered their Almat Bio laundry liquid, very cheap parmesan and Special K look-a-like cereal. Their allergy relief tablets are excellent too.

It filters all the ash into a canister so you can basically just hoover the fire place out instead of brushing and

sweeping, so less ash in the air to settle.

I see, whilst I get most of the ash out when I rake out the fire/ashpan, there is some left. Will have a look at it and see if I can a) find somewhere to store it, and b) justify the cost.

We had our rayburn serviced and even though he used a hoover the ash had settled on everything and

it took three days to clear, hopefully with this it should contain it.

Parts are here just waiting for the chap to come and fit them, Wear and tear on some metal tubs.

I will make him use my new gadget if he starts cleaning again!
