cmcardle
My pekin was looking a little under the weather and when I had a look at her she had a big swelling on her leg. She can walk and run normally. Her foot is OK. The swelling is not inflamed. It feels firm but not hard. It's about 5 x 2 cm. Any ideas? Thanks Carol-Ann
Tweety
I have no idea what it could be but, if she is under the weather, it may be the cause and I would get her checked out by a vet.
Plum
Could it be mud that's dried into a hard ball with her feathers?
cmcardle
I took her to the vet on Monday. He thought it was either an abscess (pus in chickens is much more solid than in humans) or a tumour. The next day he rang and said the needle biopsy showed that it was a lymphoma. She's not in discomfort so I've brought her home to live out her days. Poor little thing.
Plum
What a shame, you'll know when it's affecting her. Hope she has a good happy life even if shortened. x
