Olly Posted November 23, 2012 Share Posted November 23, 2012 It's just an age thing, I think - maybe they are slowing down in that part of her oviduct (or speeding up!) and no pigment is being laid down ... that's a not-very-technical/scientific viewpoint! Sometimes they have the pale band around the middle and sometimes one half is normal colour and the other half is pale. She is 10 months old. sjp Posted November 23, 2012 Share Posted November 23, 2012 I've got a couple that lay eggs like that one a maran cross has about a 10 day cycle in which she lays one very good coloured dark brown egg then it's 8 or 9 varying shades of speckled and lighish brown ones before her pigment gland is cleaned and recharged as a note her mother lays a really good dark brown egg everytime.the other girl's eggs just get lighter until she has a couple of days off.
