worms

Recommended Posts

The chicken run is on earth which is dug over every week and it reveals lots of earth worms (the girls are shut out for a while to let the worms retreat back in the soil )I only have a cover at the the front and back the bit in the middle is open to the elements but I have been noticing that when I clear out some of the (pellets/mixed corn/mash which has fallen on the floor it has quite a few very tiny white like worms eating it . So are these very baby earth worms ??? or are they the worms that the girls can catch. They are wormed on a regular basis. Also if I use the ground sanitizing powder to disinfect will it also kill off the earth worms.

ps The Girls are usually only in their run when we go out and at night other wise they have the run of the garden even though they try to get in through the cat flap.

Thanks in advance

These little worm things(definatley not maggots) are very thin white/grey in colour and range from 1/4 inch to 1 inch and they appear in a bundle eating the food which falls on the floor (mash mixed with cooked veg peelings) have not used any powder yet could you recommend one ??

The run gets dug over once a week.

Thanks Chickley and Satcha
