Lesley
For those who like it ( ) and would like to have a free range egg version. It needs about 10 days to two weeks to mellow - I keep it in the fridge and shake the bottle every day. I've just used this recipe - it makes a 70cl bottle full. I use half vodka and half brandy. Takes just minutes to make..... Advocaat 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon lemon extract (I left this out) 1 cup vodka (or vodka and brandy) 5 eggs 1 egg yolk 2/3 cup evaporated milk Directions: 1 Blend all ingredients in a blender for 30 seconds until they are mixed well. 2 Pour into container (I pour it through a sieve to remove stringy bits), cap and refrigerate. Let it age for 1 to 2 weeks to mellow. 3 The color will intensify as it ages, reaching a more traditional light shade of yellow. I posted a recipe a few years ago for Coffee Liqueur - it makes a lovely cream liqueur....I'm on the dregs of the one I made then. It should show up on Search if anyone wants it.
