heth1986
My little chicks, now 4 days old, all seem to have slightly mucky bottoms! It's not runny or in a complete mess, just as though they've all got a little bit of poo stuck They're all still drinking and eating plenty and don't look as though they're having any trouble pooing. They're cheeping away and running round without a care in the world so I'm just wondering if you guys think I should be cleaning it off or if I should leave them to it? Thanks in advance for any advice!
kinsk
In our current hatch three had really mucky bottoms and poo sticks to poo. I get a tub of warm water with some hibiscrub in it and stand them in to soften the poo, get clean and then get as much wetness off with kitchen towel. If it's only a little bit I leave alone. surf_space
I would advise the same, I had a bowl with a kitchen towel in it and wet the towel with warm water, then dipped cotton buds on the sticks in it and used that to wipe it off. I found you could be more precise and it didn't cause the chick too much disturbance and didn't make their bottoms all wet! Hope this helps
heth1986
Thankyou! Over the last week, each of the chicks has had to have a bum wash and are now all looking much fluffier so hopefully that's the end of it! surf_space
Glad they are all doing fine, sometimes it can be caused by small fluctuations in the temperature, so try and make sure they are in a room which is normally a constant temperature and it shouldn't happen again.
