yiulouise
Hi, Was hoping someone may be able to give me some advice. This time last year we took three chicks home from our sons school. They have been amazing, and I want to get some more from them this year. Does anyone have any advice or ideas about putting younger chicks and hens together. There is so much information on google, all different and wondered if anyone had done this? Would really appreciate any adive. Thank You
Purplemaniacs
If you put chicks in with adult hens the hens will attack the chicks. You would need to keep them seperate until the chicks are fully grown and then they will need to be gradually integrated together. Do you have some alternative accomodation for the chicks until they are fully grown? There is lots of information in the hatching and raising chicks section. Redwing
As Chrissie says youll need complete separate accomodation for all stages of the chicks raising When they are about 18/20 weeks you can think about integrating them If the youngsters outnumber the older ones you'll find it easier come integration time
yiulouise
Hi, thanks so much for your replys. I will have a look in the hatching and raising section. Was thinking of taking another 3 from the school, but maybe should take 4, so they do outnumber the ones I already have. I dont have seperate accomadation, the husband will have to start building!!
